Multi award-winning, BAFTA-nominated writer and comedian Mark Steel returns with his new tour The Leopard in My House.
The topic? His battle with throat cancer. A battle he is winning (thankfully) and which only his rapier wit could fashion a comedy tour show out of.
“The consultant had told me he was confident I had throat cancer that had spread into the lymph glands. Joyfully, I held his hand, and looked up to the heavens like a South American footballer after scoring a goal. It was one of the happiest moments of my life.”
Cancer has done nothing to dull Mark’s acute political observations or quash his “frankly bonkers” energy: you will laugh, you will cry, but you’ll laugh again, and again, and again.
The Leopard in My House is proof that this leftie, working-class, Radio 4 favourite truly deserves his place in the UK comedy pantheon.
Mark Steel is best known for his critically-acclaimed BBC Radio 4 show Mark Steel’s in Town (now in its 13th series and voted the 6th best radio comedy ever), as well as his hit podcast What The F*** Is Going On…?. He has presented the BAFTA-nominated Mark Steel Lectures for BBC Two, and is a regular on BBC One’s Have I Got News for You and QI as well as BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz. He been named newspaper columnist of the year and has also written several acclaimed books, including an award-winning audiobook adaptation of his critically acclaimed stand-up show Who Do I Think I Am? for Audible.

The Two Sisters’ Theatre
Located on the tranquil Two Sister’s Lawn, our theatre has one continuous roof, every auditorium seat is undercover and allocated. The roof section over the auditorium is transparent so you will be able to enjoy the stars above, as you watch The Stars on stage! The theatre walls will be open and, for selected events, the lawns either side become part of the auditorium. With lawn tickets you to choose where to sit when you arrive and can enjoy your picnic during the event. You will need to bring your own seats, beanbags or rugs etc for the lawns.
We can close our walls for events outside the summer months. The walls are clear, so you still feel you are in the beautiful garden just with protection from the weather.
You are welcome to stay in the gardens following afternoon performances until the Castle closes for the day.
Gates open at 6.30pm for evening performances and 1 hour before matinees. Please check our access page for further information.
The theatre bar will be open before the event and during the interval (when applicable) for hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream and freshly made savoury and sweet crepes.

Pre-Theatre Supers are available before this performance in the Astor Wing Dining Room, inside Hever Castle.
The menu is available to view here.
Please note there are just 50 covers for dinner, we recommend you book early, alongside your theatre tickets to avoid disappointment. You can arrive at the Lakeview Car Park from 5.30pm to give you time to walk over to the castle via the theatre lawn. The route is available to view on our access page.
